LYDIA INITIATIVE CHURCH TEAM
Welcome and Thank You!
We WELCOME you to The Lydia Initiative of Central Alabama. We THANK YOU for your interest and ask the Lord to guide you as you seek His plan for your church and her involvement with Lydia. You have been prayed over, and we are asking the Lord to unify churches in our communities to accomplish the task given in Matthew 28:18-20.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Lydia Statement of Faith
We believe in the one living and true God who reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the Bible as the historical revelation of God’s activity for humanity, and the authority of God to teach, guide, correct, train, and save. The Bible was inspired by the Holy Spirit, is truth without error, and is complete in revealing the will of God.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God, conceived and born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.
We believe that mankind was created in the image of God, male and female. Mankind sinned and experienced spiritual death, which is separation from God; and as a result all humans are born with a sinful nature.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as God’s way of reconciling humanity to himself. Jesus became the sacrifice for the sins of mankind, and they only way to receive salvation is to turn from sin, believe that Christ is Savior, and publicly confess Jesus as Lord. Salvation is received by grace through faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord, and not as a result of good works.
We believe in the physical resurrection of the crucified Jesus Christ in heaven, and He lives there as our High Priest. We believe in the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe a believer should be a vessel sanctified and fitting for the Master’s use. We believe in the Great Commission, and believe that this evangelization is the mission of the church.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, eternal punishment for the lost and everlasting blessedness of the saved.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers of our Lord Jesus Christ, based upon the truth of scriptures. We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
We believe every person deserves compassion, love, kindness, respect and dignity.
Lydia Principles:
The Lydia Initiative of Central Alabama will inspire and equip the CHURCH to love on pregnant women and their families who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy. These moms may or may not have a support team, and the ultimate goal of Lydia is to introduce these moms to relationship with Jesus (John 3:16). If they believe in Jesus, then Lydia will lovingly love them to a life of purity and living in obedience to God’s Word (Romans 3:23).
The Lydia Initiative believes that every person is loved by God, and a pregnancy represents another life loved by God (Genesis 1:27). Lydia teams will not only meet physical needs of the mom, but will also love the mom as Christ loves the church. Our goal is for the mom to experience the love, forgiveness and compassion of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 11: 28-30).
Lydia teams will be organized around the local church. The team will be church-lead and under the umbrella of the local church pastor. Lydia will unite the church teams with the women’s centers, and act only as a referral to the church teams (Galatians 1:11-12). Lydia teams should never advise for abortion.
The Lydia Initiative embraces adoption as a loving, responsible, and mature choice for young women facing unplanned pregnancies. Single parenting and marriage are equally life-saving alternatives. The Christian adoption agency, Lifeline Children’s Services, is available through Sav-A-Life to counsel women considering adoption. Lydia teams should encourage a woman to provide LIFE for her unborn child, but should never encourage parenting or adoption but instead should pray for/with the mom for the Lord to help her make the right decision. (Jeremiah 29:11).
